Blossom Specialty Health Consulting, LLC, (formerly DS Specialty Pharmacy Consulting, LLC) provides expert consulting services to healthcare organizations, including specialty and retail pharmacies, infusion centers, and hospitals that dispense and administer specialty medications.

Our focus is staff training to provide optimal care, optimize operations, chronic care management, and enhance patient advocacy related to specialty medications. We support organizations in achieving financial growth and stability by addressing operational inefficiencies and developing and implementing effective patient care programs to drive positive outcomes.
About Dr. Deanna Smith
​Dr. Deanna Smith, Founder and CEO of Blossom Specialty Health Consulting, is a pharmacist with a wealth of experience and a deeply personal commitment to the world of specialty pharmacy. With over 17 years of experience working with start-up specialty pharmacies, Deanna has seen firsthand the critical importance of optimal chronic care management, effective staff training, and streamlined operational processes for both patient care and business success.

Her extensive experience has revealed common challenges in specialty pharmacies, not having formal standards of patient consulting, having undertrained staff, inefficient processes and gaps, audit unpreparedness and unawareness, and issues with billing and medication submissions. These challenges, Deanna observed, can negatively impact patient care, staff morale, and financial performance.

Driven by these insights, Deanna is dedicated to helping specialty pharmacies excel. Her 17-year journey has fueled her passion for improving care delivery, advocating for patients, and preventing financial losses to ensure that pharmacies can thrive and positively impact the lives of those they serve.

Deanna believes that patients on specialty medications deserve exceptional care and attention. This involves not only training staff to provide comprehensive counseling and financial support but also implementing efficient processes for optimal outcomes and customer satisfaction.

As a clinical pharmacist, Deanna has successfully developed and implemented processes that enhance workflow efficiency and operational effectiveness. She has also demonstrated the positive effects of thorough counseling and education on patient adherence and confidence. In addition, Deanna has worked closely with sales teams to build enduring provider relationships and has successfully overturned denied prior authorizations through thorough drafted, clinically supported appeal letters.

With the continued growth of specialty medications, Deanna is committed to partnering with health organizations to ensure their teams and patients achieve success. She believes that pharmacies should go above and beyond for their customers, which requires well-trained staff and robust systems to foster a positive and motivated environment.

Dr. Smith earned her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Florida A&M University, is licensed in multiple states. She holds a certification in specialty Pharmacy, (CSP), and is a Certified ACHC consultant. She is also a patient advocate, speaker, and author
